Never worry virtually it. Many a time I have thrown a cab abroad because it was just way too beat from playing out.

No, never. Hell, my cab is missing a metal corner or two.

I've used an automobile vinyl repair kit in the past. Had different color pastes that would be practical over repair surface area so heated with a small tool. My philosophy has always been amps are not violins. They're just boxes covered with something unmusical.

Elmer'due south or hot gum, but merely so the it doesn't get worse. I accept amp covers as well, just it happens and life is only too brusk.

Depending on if the tolex is still intact, I've taken a heat shrink gun and carefully loosened upward the "pulled back" tolex(be careful not to cook the tolex)...put in back in place...hitting with a fiddling more heat and worked in place with my fingers. By and large, information technology will stay in identify.

Contact cement like that used on formica countertops is the best manner to become. I adopt the toxic combustible stuff to the dark-green, but either will work. Use toothpicks or something to keep the tolex away from the wood while you castor the cement onto both surfaces. One time it dries to the point of being tacky, remove the toothpicks as you roll the torn expanse into place. Line information technology upwardly carefully as you get - information technology's nearly impossible to suit one time it'due south in place. Don't forget the mineral spirits (or whatever the directions tell you to apply) to clean upward the backlog.

People will pay top dollar for relics.:bonk

I don't phone call them rips or tears, they're battle scars and grapheme. :aok

But I accept used elmers or hot gum on peeling things and little flaps in the tolex I don't desire to become large flaps or rips. Merely dabs.

I would patch 'em up, but only to finish it ripping more. I'm a gigging musician, not a collector, and so I look later my gear but don't weep over a knock or ding

I somewhen simply tore the tolex off of 2 cabinets that were only getting likewise battered looking. Pulled everything hardware, sanded them smoothen, masked them off and had a guy that does LineX truck bed liner hose them down. The stuff is virtually impenetrable, and simply slides beyond things that would have torn tolex easily.

An amp that had a false tweed tolex torn off it before I got it was sanded downwards and I covered it with existent tweed. I lacquered it with Minwax Honey Pine poly, sanding it with Scotchbrite pads and wiping it down with a tack fabric between coats. Information technology'due south been waterproof, beer proof and darned near structural.

Tolex is okay, simply from hither on in, cabs are getting LineX or Duratex rather than tolexed.

I super glue the ripped section dorsum in place. Then I take a blackness sharpie and color in the rip, it masks the mucilage residuum and the seam line. E'er looks great and very hard to run across.

nope, don't fix nothin' but the electronics. Perchance if a flap was just hanging in that location, I'd put some elmer's gum and stick information technology down. Had a fawn '78 4x12 cab that looked like it met an angry werewolf. I only glued the flaps downwards then I wouldn't rip them all the fashion off. Plus when I'one thousand manhandling an 80+pound box past myself, I want a solid surface under my hands
